It’s that time of year again where we all take some time to reflect and think about the things that matter most in life and how we can show appreciation for our countless blessings. One of our guiding principles, a thread that weaves the fabric of Cenac’s culture together, is service. Service not just for our customers and partners, but service for South Louisiana – where the majority of our employees live and work.
We are fortunate enough to support many organizations across the country, all of which we hold near to our hearts. Today, however, we would like to focus on some of the amazing organization that are doing great things right here in our backyard. We hope to help spread awareness for these incredible causes that protect our families, our state and help us to celebrate all that’s unique and wonderful about the Gulf Coast region.
Bayou Community Foundation
Myself, and a group of business leaders and philanthropists from Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes established the Bayou Community Foundation in 2012 as part of a donor advised fund for the Greater New Orleans Foundation. In the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina, Hurricane Rita and the 2010 Gulf oil spill, we recognized the need for a community foundation to strengthen human services, education, workforce development and coastal preservation efforts in our area, as well as to attract national and international assistance in the event of a future emergency or natural disaster.
This organization is most certainly important to me personally, but is also very important to our Cenac team, as it directly affects families in Houma and the surrounding areas. To date, donations have reached over $1 million dollars and have gone to noteworthy causes such as education opportunities for at-risk young and necessary medication and resources for the elderly.
Louisiana Wildlife Federation
Celebrating its 52nd year, the Louisiana Wildlife Federation (LWF) is the Bayou State’s leading organization of sportsmen and conservationists. The goals of the LWF are twofold. First, the LWF strives to conserve our state’s natural resources, with particular emphasis on fish and wildlife and their habitats. With this comes the mission to protect our rights as Louisiana citizens to enjoy these resources in accordance with sound and scientifically established resource management principles.
As our company lives along Louisiana’s coastal waterways, it’s very important to us that the ecosystem remains healthy and protected. This year, Cenac donations to LWF contributed to an ongoing effort to restore damage done by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the Gulf oil spill.
WYES Public Television
Founded in 1953, WYES has always given us high-quality content with a mission to educate, inform, inspire and entertain.
At Cenac, we admire WYES’s commitment to use the power of television as a resource where we can all come together to rediscover and preserve the history and values that make our community a remarkable place to live. That is why Cenac has been a proud supporter for many years, and will continue for many years to come.
We are so honored to work with these organizations and excited to see the strides they will make toward their missions in 2016. We will continue to be involved with the aforementioned, as well as many other organizations that directly affect our employees and the communities where they live and work for years to come.
