Cenac Marine Services partnered with the Bayou Area Alzheimer’s Chapter this fall to sponsor and participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Mr. Cenac, CEO of Cenac Marine Services contributed to the cause as a Silver Sponsor for $2,500.
The sun was shining and there was an amazing turnout of 661 people and 59 teams. The Southdown Plantation in Houma was filled with love, support, compassion in the hearts of so many people that had a common goal in mind – to raise awareness and money to support research efforts for this hideous disease.
Students from Nicholls State University participated in the walk along with children and adults of all ages who have been or are being affected by the disease of Alzheimer’s.
With a yearly goal of $86,000, the Bayou Chapter is more than halfway there at $68,183.76 raised so far. A large amount of that did come from the supporters of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s – with the two top teams raising over $5,000 each (Kirk’s Krewe and Captain Glen…Thanks for the Memories).
Benny Cenac and Cenac Marine Services would like to encourage the Houma community to look into participating or somehow becoming involved in next year’s event if this happens to be a cause close to you. As 1 of the 600 communities that partakes in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s we are proud to have raised such a substantial amount of money to go directly towards the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association.
