Cenac Marine Services has recently completed the Towing Safety Management System (TSMS) Audit and now holds the certificate in hand. Benny Cenac, owner and CEO of Cenac Marine Services, couldn’t be prouder of the success his team has demonstrated post audit and is happy to be fully TSMS Certified.
Although a Towing Safety Management System is not required, it is highly encouraged to promote an organized plan and safety system for all companies who choose to use a TPO (third party organization) option for the inspection of their vessels. Cenac Marine Services has always prided themselves on the safety of their work for both employees and customers, so being TSMS certified was a top priority for our company.
Some of the functional requirements that are covered in a Towing Safety Management System include: policies and procedures to provide direction for the safe operation of towing vessels and protection of the marine environment in compliance with applicable U.S. law; including the Code of Federal Regulations, and if on an international voyage, applicable international conventions to which the United States is a party; defined levels of authority and lines of communication between shoreside and vessel personnel; procedures for internal auditing of the TSMS, including shoreside and vessel operations and procedures for external audits.
Mr. Cenac and Cenac Marine Services were issued the TSMS Certificate by Cenac’s third party organization after the audit was complete. Cenac Marine Services was deemed to be in compliance with all of the TSMS requirements. The certificate will be valid for five years. “We look forward to providing the safest work environment possible for all our employees and will make sure we go above and beyond to do so,” stated Cenac once the certificate was issued.
