What’s a normal day on the job like for you?
On a normal day I start my shift at 6:00 a.m. and work until Noon, then pick back up at 6:00p.m. and work until midnight. During my shift I drive the boat, complete maintenance projects, and even cook meals for the crew. We love to cook up all kinds of good food when we’re on site.
What’s your favorite aspect of your job?
I truly LOVE what I do and working for Cenac. However, if I had to pick one I would say it’s the satisfaction of having a good run with one barge. I love nothing more than to see a job well done. Our boats are also the best in the business, so it’s a real luxury to be able to work with the top-of-the-line equipment.
Do you have a favorite company tradition or celebration that you like to partake in?
Every year, Benny throws an end-of-year party. We really are all a family here, so he invites the whole Cenac team out to his home to relax for the day and celebrate. I always look forward to this day each year!
Can you share one of your favorite memories from your time working with Benny Cenac?
Benny is the best boss out there. He respects and cares about each and every one of his employees. Over the years, Benny has sold 2 boats that I have been a captain on. When the sale occurred, he ensured me that my job was secure and that they would find another position for me within the company. I remember this ever day and I am very grateful for the opportunities this company has provided.
What are your hobbies outside of work?
If I had to guess, many members of our team would answer this the same – hunting and fishing. Welcome to Southern Louisiana A.K.A. Sportsman’s Paradise!
