2016 was one heck of a year for the Cenac Team. As is typical in a New Year, we’ve been reflecting on what we were able to accomplish and what will be for the New Year.
One of the guiding principles that make up a large part of Cenac’s culture is service. In addition to service for our customers and partners, a focus on service for South Louisiana and what makes our unique culture special is hugely important to us. Two of our greatest community achievements in 2016 that we were exceptionally proud to be a part of were the donation of a barge to the Terrebonne Parish Levee District and our participation in the Houma Downtown Christmas Festival.
Donating the barge to the Terrebonne Parish Levee District came about to assist a cause near and dear to me and to everyone at Cenac. The purpose was to assist our parish in preserving levees and island barriers around our community in order to protect the land we call home. Coastal restoration has long been a passion of mine and this was a step in the right direction for our area. Trying to preserve our heritage and way of lining has always been important to us. Our donation of this barge was just another way for us to commit to protecting our parish. This barge donation allows the transfer of the Levee District’s equipment and personnel to Terrebonne Parish’s island levees that are only accessible by water. We are looking forward to helping the parish in other ways in the New Year and will continue to look for ways to partner with them to ensure the future of this area remains bright.
When asked about participating in the Houma Downtown Christmas Festival, we just couldn’t pass it up. We were elated to be able to be a part of contributing to the addition of the Christmas Festival to the Houma Christmas festivities. It’s important for our area to have family friendly events that can become a part of our yearly holiday traditions. Our Cenac family had a great time participating in the weekends events and we are very much looking forward to continuing to support and participate in this event year after year.
