The 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer is right around the corner, taking place at Southdown Plantation in Houma, Louisiana. Mr. Arlen “Benny” Cenac Jr. and Cenac Marine Services have pledged a Silver Sponsorship to the Bayou Area Alzheimer’s chapter walk, which will occur on September 16, 2017 at 9am.
The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is a nationwide event that takes place each year with more than 600 communities participating. It is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Alzheimer’s Association, which is a non-profit organization says, “When you participate in the Walk, your fundraising dollars fuel our mission, and your participation in the event helps to change the level of Alzheimer’s awareness in your community. The Alzheimer’s Association provides free, easy-to-use tools and staff support to help participants reach their fundraising goal. While there is no fee to register, we encourage participants to fundraise in order to contribute to the cause and raise awareness.”
It was the mission of the Alzheimer’s Association that really hit home with Mr. Cenac as to why he chose to become a local sponsor. “With more than 5 Million Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease and currently no prevention or cure for this illness, I highly encourage the people of Cenac Marine Services and the local Houma community to come together and raise awareness for this devastating sickness. Not only are we helping those who directly suffer from Alzheimer’s but their caregivers as well,” Cenac recently stated.
If you are interested in joining the walk against Alzheimer’s, you can register or join a team here. The Bayou Area walk, currently has over 40 teams and 250 participants. Registration is open to all ages and walks of life. On Walk day, you will receive a wristband. Each registered walker with a wristband will receive a Promise Garden flower.
